Wilsonville High School freshmen Maddie Ford (left) and Emily Hooper played big roles in the Wildcats’ success this season. Wilsonville finished 9-8 overall and 8-8 in Northwest Oregon Conference play after lack of interest cancelled the program’s 2009 season.

Forgive for a second if Scott Chase had no idea how his team would do this spring.The Wilsonville girls lacrosse coach wanted to restart the program after lack of interest cancelled the 2009 season.With just two players who had prior varsity high school experience from the 2008 squad, the Wildcats were staring into a year relying on a group of freshmen, along with girls who had never picked up a lacrosse stick before.

A summer tradition in Wilsonville looks to return to its past.The 2010 Country Classic has been a staple in the community every July, and one of the biggest changes this year is a no admission charge to watch top flight horses compete at Hunter Creek Farm on Wednesday through Sunday.

Baseball: Langdon Farms rallies to win Summer Slam title for 1st time

For the first time in six tries, the Langdon Farms Baseball Club can finally say it successfully defended its home tournament.On Sunday, Langdon Farms — Wilsonville High School’s OIBA summer baseball team — captured the Summer Slam championship with an 11-6 victory over Putnam at the WHS Baseball Complex.
