Girls basketball: Jefferson 50, Wilsonville 40 No. 2 Wilsonville poses with its runner-up trophy after falling to state champion Jefferson, 50-40, in Saturday's OSAA Class 5A state-title game at McArthur Court in Eugene.
EUGENE – The worst-case scenario for No. 2 Wilsonville to begin Saturday’s state-championship game came to fruition.
Seven turnovers before a field-goal attempt and an early 10-point deficit had the Wildcats playing catch-up before falling 50-40 to No. 1 Jefferson in the state-title game at the OSAA Class 5A state tournament at McArthur Court.
Wilsonville had 15 turnovers in the first half alone, and 25 for the game, which hurt its chances of capturing its first state title since 2002.

EUGENE -- For No. 2 Wilsonville, the season ended with a game pretty much typical of how its entire season went.
With a suffocating defense and enough offense, the Wildcats dominated Summit, 44-19, on Saturday morning to capture fourth place at the OSAA Class 5A state tournament at McArthur Court.

Battling a rough first half of shooting where nerves seem to have gotten the best of them, the Wildcats pulled through over the final 16 minutes to pull out a 43-32 victory over Hermiston in the quarterfinals of the OSAA Class 5A state tournament on Wednesday at McArthur Court.
