Visitor's center employee dies unexpectedly

Amy Burkesmith, an employee of the Clackamas County Visitor’s Center, died unexpectedly this past weekend, said Steve Gilmore, CEO of the Wilsonville Chamber.

“I am writing this email with a heavy heart and tremendous sadness,” said Gilmore in an email to chamber board members on Monday.

He said Burkesmith, 51, died from “an unknown illness.”

“We are all very sad and upset at the loss of our friend,” wrote Gilmore. “Her smile, personality, enthusiasm and dedication to her job will be greatly missed.”

On her Facebook page, regarding her status, Burkesmith wrote, “Celebrating 32 years of marriage with Mike! 2 beautiful daughters, and a very handsome puppy ;) Life is good.”
/> She was a 1979 graduate of Whitworth College, where she had studied journalism. She also attended Central Valley High School, and listed herself as a freelance writer with a variety of clients.

She worked at the visitor’s center for less than a year.
