OREGON CITY -- Clackamas County is ramping up its H1N1 defense, opening an H1N1 flu vaccination clinic and launching an informational hotline dedicated to updates on the pandemic H1N1 flu.

The clinic, at 168 Warner-Milne Road in Oregon City, will be operated from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays, providing no-cost vaccinations. The vaccines are currently available in both nasal spray and injection forms.

The vaccine will be given first to individuals in the target demographics: those aged 6 months to 24 years, health care workers, first responders and people at high risk of medical complications from the flu, such as pregnant women or those with underlying respiratory conditions.

Local health officials expect the vaccine supply to increase in the coming weeks, in which case it could be offered to the general public.

Vaccines are given on a walk-in basis; appointments are not accepted. Hours may vary depending on supplies.

The Clackamas County H1N1 Pandemic Flu Information Line, available at 503-722-2777, provides updates on information on the H1N1 flu. The phone line will be staffed 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. by English and Spanish speakers and has automated messages to direct after-hours callers.

The H1N1 vaccine is also available at the Beavercreek Clinic, 1425 Beavercreek Road. For an appointment, call 503-655-8471.
