About the lone worry coach Cindy Anderson has had recently is her team letting up in the second half.

But that’s when the Wilsonville girls basketball team is already holding 20-plus point leads.

The Wildcats remained perfect in Northwest Oregon Conference play, blowing out Hillsboro, 72-44, on Friday at home. They also took down Parkrose, 80-47, on Tuesday, Jan. 19 at home.

Against Hillsboro, Wilsonville led 47-12 at the half. Against Parkrose, it led 61-33 after three quarters.

“We’re doing well,” Anderson said. “We’re struggling when it’s a big discrepancy in the first half to continue with it in the second half, but I think that’s human nature. It’s OK. We’ve got a lot of people playing a lot of time.”

On Friday, Krueger had 26 points and 12 rebounds, and Arnoldy added 14 points and 10 rebounds, and Dungey had 16 points, and sophomores Nicole Gearhart and Alyssa Clark each had seven.

Anderson said it’s been an overall team effort with everyone contributing.

“Emily is starting to hit from the outside, which is huge,” she said. “Alyssa is running the offense great and being a force on defense, so I just think we have a lot of weapons. If you can stop one or two of those, we still have a couple more.”

Against Parkrose,  senior Megan Arnoldy led the Wildcats with 24 points and nine rebounds, junior Emily Dungey added 16 points on 3 on 5 shooting from the three-point line, and junior Kellie Krueger had 14 points and 15 rebounds.

What was also encouraging for Anderson was her team’s lack of turnovers, which included just nine on Friday against Hillsboro and 12 last Tuesday against Parkrose.

“We’re rebounding better, we’re turning the ball over less,” she said. “I don’t know if that’s a by-product of who we’re playing or just the fact that we’re taking care of the ball but we’ve got some points of emphasis each game and we’re working on getting those accomplished.”

Up next, Wilsonville ends the first round of league play on Friday against Sherwood at 5:45 p.m.

On Tuesday, the Wildcats host Glencoe on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m. to begin the second round of league play.

In their last meeting, the Crimson Tide gave Wilsonville its biggest challenge before falling 33-28 on Jan. 5.

“I feel like on any given night, Sherwood makes me nervous; Glencoe, Liberty, Century — they all make me a little nervous in that anything can happen on any given night,” Anderson said. “But I think we have enough horses, so to speak, to counteract anything they throw at us. We’ll be a little more prepared.”
