Baseball: Langdon Farms rallies for fifth at Platt tourney
Langdon Farms beats All-State on Sunday to capture fifth place

BEAVERTON — The Langdon Farms Baseball Club rallied with five runs in the fifth inning to beat All-State, 9-6, in the fifth-place game of the Platt tournament on Sunday at Sunset High School.
Langdon Farms lost the first two games of the tournament, falling to the Eastside Barbers, 13-3, on Saturday; and to Central Catholic, 8-6, on Friday.
On Sunday, All-State appeared to have Langdon Farms on the ropes after taking a 6-2 lead in the fourth inning.
However, Langdon Farms (9-5 overall, 5-1 league) cut the deficit in half when Gunner Pollman had an RBI single and Michael Gonzalez followed with an RBI double in the fourth.
In the fifth, Langdon Farms came up big as it tied the score
, 6-6, when Kyle Austin’s sacrifice bunt allowed two runs to score off an All-State error.
Briar Hetland followed with an RBI single to score Austin that gave Langdon Farms a 7-6 lead. Gonzalez extended the lead to 8-6 with an RBI single to score Jackson Luby.
Tanner Antonson capped the rally with an RBI groundout to score Hetland for a three-run lead.
Pollman earned the victory on the mound, pitching the final two innings in a game that ended in the sixth due to a time limit. He allowed zero runs and just one hit.
Gonzalez continued his tear after a breakout season when he was named an All-Northwest Oregon Conference second-team outfielder this past spring.
The senior-to-be was 3 of 3 with two RBIs, and upped his summer season batting average to a team-high .474.
Against Eastside, Langdon Farms fell behind, 10-0, in the fourth after participating in the Relay for Life event the night before.
Against Central Catholic, Langdon Farms led 3-0 early but could not hold on.
On June 25, Canby defeated Langdon Farms, 6-2, at Canby High School.
On June 23, Langdon Farms split a doubleheader against Clackamas, losing the first game, 9-2, before winning the second game, 9-1.
Up next, Langdon Farms travels to play Gresham on Tuesday and hosts Lakeridge on Wednesday. Game times are 6 p.m.
On Thursday, they travel to play North Marion at 7:30 p.m.
