S & A Traditional Irish Entertainment is hosting a St. Patrick’s Day First Friday Céilí Mór, from 7:30-11 p.m. Friday, March 5, at the Winona Grange #271, 8340 S.W. Seneca St, Tualatin. Participants get a free dance lesson with paid admission, while Sam Keator will teach and call traditional dances with local musicians Bob Soper on fiddle, Dave Cory on banjo and Danny O’Hanlon on guitar. The Clackamas County Master Gardener program will host a seminar, “Daphnes and their Relatives,” from 7-8 p.m. Monday, March 8, at the Milwaukie Center, 5440 S.E. Kellogg Creek Drive, Milwaukie. Horticulturist and Hardy Plant Society of Oregon founder David Palmer will speak about the species and its hybrids, showing habits and origins, including their culture and propagation, as well as highlighting some of the Daphne’s close relatives. The Bosco-Milligan Foundation and National Trust for Historic Preservation will hold two meetings to collect information from local residents interested in historic preservation. Responses will be compiled in a Clackamas County Historic Preservation Needs Assessment and workshops will be held to provide technical assistance and training for residents to become pro-active preservationists. The first meeting is from 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 10, at the Pioneer Community Center, 615 Washington Street, Oregon City. The second is at 7 p.m. on March 16 at Sandy City Hall. Grace Chapel will hold its annual rummage sale on Friday and Saturday, March 12-13, at the church, 9600 S.W. Boeckman Road. But items still are being accepted for donation at the church on several more occasions: 1-6 p.m. Sunday, March 7, and 5-8 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, March 8, 9 and 10. Sip, the 17th annual McMinnville Wine and Food Classic, will take place March 12-14 at the Evergreen Aviation and Space Museum, 500 NE Captain Michael King Smith Way, McMinnville. Includes wine tasting, guest demonstrations and live music. General admission is $15, with discounts for seniors, children and designated drivers. A 3-day pass is $30. The Cypress Branch Auxiliary of Boys and Girls Aid will host a crab and rib dinner to benefit Boys and Girls Aid from 5-9 p.m. Saturday, March 13, at the Charbonneau Country Club, 32000 S.W. “Prevent Cancer Super Colon” is coming to the main lobby at Legacy Meridian Park Medical Center, 19300 S.W. 65th Avenue, Tualatin, at 8 a.m. Thursday, March 4. This 20-foot long, 8-foot high inflatable replica of the human colon teaches people about the risks, and treatment options for colorectal cancer. Details: 503-335-3500.

A call for visual artists to submit work for the 2010 Wilsonville Festival of the Arts is now out, with a deadline of March 19. Visit www.WilsonvilleArts.org to download an application. “Recycled and Upcycled,” the 2010 Wilsonville Festival of Arts will be held June 5 and 6. Over 100 visual, literary, and performing artists will be featured. The weekend kicks off with a ‘Junk to Funk’ parade. There also will be live music, storytelling, dance, poetry and a juried visual arts show and sale. The festival is free and open to the public. Details: 503-638-6933.
Curves of Wilsonville is sponsoring its 12th annual food drive during March. Those who bring in a bag of food in March can join Curves with no enrollment fee. Non-perishable food items should be dropped off at Curves, 29585 S.W. Park Place, Suite C. All donated items will be given to the Wilsonville Community Sharing food bank. The 18-hole Sandelie Golf Course will re-open for the spring season on March 6 with a special promotion. From March 6-19, nine holes of golf will cost just $10. Sandelie’s 9-hole course also will open for the spring on March 13. Sandelie Golf Course is located at 28333 S.W. Mountain Road, while Sandelie West 9 is located at 3030 S.W. Free federal and state income tax forms are available at the Wilsonville Public Library, 8200 S.W. Wilsonville Road, during normal business hours: Mon-Thurs., 10 a.m. - 8 p.m.; Fri-Sat. 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.; Sun. 1 p.m. – 6 p.m. This will last through the filing deadline on April 15.

The Wilsonville Community Center will be providing income tax assistance free of charge during the tax season for seniors and individuals of lower income. The Cecil and Molly Smith Garden, world renowned for its collection of species and hybrid rhododendrons, will be open during the blooming season from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays from April 3-May 23. The I-5 Connection is an energetic song and dance troupe based in Wilsonville. The group is now welcoming newcomers of all ages to come down to the Wilsonville Community Center and join in on the fun. The group meets every Thursday from 10 a.m.-noon at the community center, 7955 S.W. Wilsonville Road. Director is Jocelyn Higgins. The Wilsonville Arts & Culture Council theme for its 11th annual major event held June 5-6 in the Wilsonville Town Center Park is: “Wilsonville Festival of Arts – Recycled and Upcycled”. The community parade attached to the art festival last year was a hit. It will be repeated with a “recycled” instead of a “historical” theme. The City of Wilsonville and Visitor Center/ Chamber of Commerce will again participate in the parade planning. The parade will be 10 a.m. Saturday, June 5, as part of the Wilsonville Festival of Arts.
