The Wilsonville Public Library will host Teen Check-Out - Classic Disney from 6:30-9 p.m. Friday, March 19, at the library, 8200 S.W. Wilsonville Road. For 6th through 12 grade. Free, open to the public. This month’s edition will feature games, movies and food, all themed around classic Disney stories. The Wilsonville Public Library will host its monthly Magic Tree House Club for kids in kindergarten through 2nd grade at 4 p.m. Thursday, March 18, at the library, 8200 S.W. Wilsonville Road. Free, open to the public. Travel through time and around the world like Jack and Annie with games, crafts, and snacks. The Tualatin Riverkeepers are holding a restoration tree plant from 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, March 20, at Metro’s 72-acre natural area on Munger Lane in Sherwood. Get your hands dirty and help Tualatin Riverkeepers restore native trees and shrubs and bring back wetland and oak savanna habitat. Open to the public. A free paper shredding event will be held from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, March 20, at    the Wilsonville Senior Living Community, 7600 S.W. Vlahos Drive, Wilsonville. In exchange for a suggested donation of toiletries and/or tissue, each person will be allowed to shred two grocery bags or file boxes full of paper products. Acoustic jazz group, Casey MacGill’s Blue 4 Trio, will perform at the Richard R. Brown Fine Arts Center in Canby at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 20. Tickets $18 for adults and $10 for students, available at the door or in advance at 503-266-9574 or 503-266-8897. Tree School, a one-day, back-to-school education program for family forest owners, Christmas tree growers, small acreage rural landowners and home owners is taking registrations for its March 20 event. Tree School is presented by the Oregon State University Extension Service in Clackamas County.  Registration is $45 for Clackamas County residents and property owners, $55 for out-of-county residents and $20 for youth under 18.  Registration includes any of the 68 classes attended during the day, coffee breaks, lunch and access to the exhibit area that will include more than 60 businesses and service providers. The League of Women Voters of Clackamas County is holding a Lunch and Learn session titled “From Hopenhagen to Nopenhagen,” at 11:45 a.m. Friday, March 26, at the Szechuan Kitchen, 15430 S.W. Boones Ferry Road, Lake Oswego. The program is an opportunity to hear a firsthand report about last year’s Climate Change Negotiations in Copenhagen. Lewis and Clark Law School Professor Erica Thorson will share stories from an insider’s perspective. Marquis Wilsonville will hold its annual Egg Hunt at 3:30 p.m. Friday, April 2, at Marquis Care Wilsonville, 30900 S.W. Parkway Avenue, Building B. Come meet the Easter Bunny and get your own bunny whiskers painted on. Win prizes and have fun at a special magic show. Intended for ages 1-12. Free, open to the public. The Clackamas County Master Gardeners will host “Secrets of the Tomato Masters” at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, April 3, at the Milwaukie Center, 5440 S.E. Kellogg Creek Drive, Milwaukie. This free event is a must for anyone who grows tomatoes. These tomato masters annually grow over 100 tomato plants of about 50 varieties, and their revelations will get you ready for a productive growing season. Laurence Nugent, an All-Ireland flute and whistle champion, will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday, April 3, in the Cul an Ti at the home of Aine Doherty and Sam Keator in Tualatin. The OSU Master Gardeners program will host “Edible Landscaping:  Incorporating Edible Plants into Your Garden,” from 7-8 p.m. Monday, April 12, at the Milwaukie Center, 5440 S.E. Kellogg Creek Drive, Milwaukie. Jane Collier and Sherry Sheng, OSU Master Gardeners, will speak. Traditionally, edible plants are hidden in the backyard. But, today’s smaller lots require a different approach to growing edibles. In fact, many edible plants are beautiful enough to showcase in the front garden. “Understanding Grief: What to Expect and How to Cope” offers bereavement support to those who have experienced a loss, provides information about the grieving process and helping the bereaved understand their own unique grief. Participants learn how to identify their own grieving style and what coping strategies can best support them. Weight Watchers now offers two new meetings on Wednesdays in Wilsonville at the 
Al Kader Shriner Center, 25100 S.W. Parkway Avenue. They are held every Wednesday at 9 and 11:30 a.m. Meeting leader is Stephanie Allen, a Weight Watchers veteran for over 15 years. Children are welcome with mothers. Next meetings are March 24 and 31. Details: www.weightwatchers.com.
 
All are invited to join us for a weekly meeting of the new “TOPS” or Take Off Pounds Sensibly support group in Wilsonville. The meetings are held from 12:30-1:30 p.m. on Mondays. Annual cost is $26, which includes the benefit of support of your peers, as well as educational materials on weight loss provided by doctors and nutritionists. Open to all ages. Breast Friends, a local non-profit organization serving breast cancer survivors along with their immediate family and friends, holds a monthly meeting from 7-8:30 p.m. on the first Monday of each month at 14050 S.W. Pacific Highway, Suite 201, Tigard. The next meeting will be Monday, April 5. Breast Friends gives women a chance to talk about issues of living with metastatic breast cancer. Participants are encouraged to bring friends or family members. Free professional child care is available. Free and open to the public.

Curves of Wilsonville is sponsoring its 12th annual food drive during March. Those who bring in a bag of food in March can join Curves with no enrollment fee. Non-perishable food items should be dropped off at Curves, 29585 S.W. Park Place, Suite C. All donated items will be given to the Wilsonville Community Sharing food bank. Nine west-side Les Schwab Tire Centers will be accepting donations of cat food and litter to help replenish the empty shelves of the Cat Adoption Team’s Cat Food Bank through April 2. Donations locally are being accepted at the Wilsonville Les Schwab, 29175 S.W. Town Center Loop. Unopened dry and wet food is needed, as well as unopened bags of cat litter. In 21 months of operation, 29,225.35 pounds of cat food has been distributed. In February, 2,565.5 pounds went out. Free federal and state income tax forms are available at the Wilsonville Public Library, 8200 S.W. Wilsonville Road, during normal business hours: Mon-Thurs., 10 a.m. - 8 p.m.; Fri-Sat. 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.; Sun. 1 p.m. – 6 p.m. This will last through the filing deadline on April 15.

The Wilsonville Community Center will be providing income tax assistance free of charge during the tax season for seniors and individuals of lower income. The Cecil and Molly Smith Garden, world renowned for its collection of species and hybrid rhododendrons, will be open during the blooming season from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays from April 3-May 23.  The Garden is located at 5065 Raybell Road, St. Paul, just west of Highway 219 between St. Paul and Newberg. The I-5 Connection is an energetic song and dance troupe based in Wilsonville. The group is now welcoming newcomers of all ages to come down to the Wilsonville Community Center and join in on the fun. The group meets every Thursday from 10 a.m.-noon at the community center, 7955 S.W. Wilsonville Road. Director is Jocelyn Higgins. The Wilsonville Arts & Culture Council theme for its 11th annual major event held June 5-6 in the Wilsonville Town Center Park is: “Wilsonville Festival of  Arts – Recycled and Upcycled”. The community parade attached to the art festival last year was a hit. It will be repeated with a “recycled” instead of a “historical” theme. The City of Wilsonville and  Visitor Center/ Chamber of Commerce will again participate in the parade planning. The parade will be 10 a.m. Saturday, June 5, as part of the Wilsonville Festival of Arts.
