Wilsonville boys golf team caps impressive season, brings home fourth

CORVALLIS -- Senior Jesse Salzwedel won the individual state championship, and the Wilsonville boys golf team brought home the fourth-place trophy at the OSAA Class 5A boys golf state tournament on Tuesday at Trysting Trees Golf Course.

The Wildcats finished with a two-day total of 634 (317-317) -- 21 strokes behind Class 5A state champion Corvallis, who shot 613 (304-309).

Summit of Bend earned runner-up with 620 (311-309) and two-time defending state champion West Albany was third with 629 (314-315).

Salzwedel won the individual title, shooting 1-over par 145 over the two days (73-72).

Corvallis senior Roan Dickey was runner-up with a 4-ovar par 148 (74-74).

Senior Dillon Myers was tied for 22nd overall for the Wildcats, shooting 159 (77-82), senior Davis Wolfe tied for 29th with 161 (81-80) and junior Logan Munson rounded out the team score, finishing 47th with 169 (86-83).

Sophomore Jake Jessen had the team's No. 5 score, finishing 66th with 183 (91-92).

It capped an impressive season under first-year coach Jeff Deeder.

Lee takes second:
Wilsonville High School sophomore Juhee Lee finished runner-up at the OSAA Class 5A girls golf state tournament for the second straight season at Quail Valley Golf Course in Banks.

Lee shot even-par for the two-day tournament, shooting 144 (71-73) -- just one stroke behind defending individual state champion Caroline Inglis of Churchill, a sophomore, who shot 143 (71-72).

Last season, Lee took second by two strokes behind Inglis at Trysting Trees Golf Course.

Freshman Emmy Johnston, who was the Wildcats' other state-qualifier as an individual, tied for 49th overall with a two-day total of 215 (106-109).

Summit of Bend won the Class 5A state title with 674 (335-339).
