Editor’s note: Rep. Matt Wingard delivered a speech on the floor of the Oregon Legislature last month on the topic of global warming. Later, he was accused of plagiarizing the speech from the Washington Times by BlueOregon.com. Wingard responded by saying that he had the speech reviewed by several scientists before delivering it to his fellow legislators.

American Indian casinos bring more than the negative economic effects and social problems of all gambling casinos. They rely upon people who, for the most part, cannot afford to lose their money and many who become addicted to slot machines which provide 85 percent of the casino revenue.

Rep. Wingard misses global warming target

On Feb. 12, Rep. Matt Wingard gave a misinformation-filled speech to the Oregon House about global warming. He said, among other things, that the Earth is not warming, that Arctic sea ice is near normal, Antarctic sea ice is exactly normal, Polar bears are experiencing a baby boom, that water vapor plays a far greater role in our climate than does carbon dioxide and that scientists in Britain have rigged data.
